NOTCH 8: INRATIO GROUP SHOW OPENING

A Group Exhibition focusing on each artist’s interpretation of how they strive to create balance between their lives and art.  Artists on view are listed below:

Erin Bassett

“This work is about personal identity and equilibrium.  Where do I begin and end?”

Carl Janes

“My work is a type of ritual that manifests a reality.  Life and Art are inseparable, each informs the other.  My life creates my art and my art creates my life.  I concentrate on a positive vibe and the underlying message of being free.”

Pash Lima

“For me, the formula for balancing my life as an artist never stays the same.  The beauty of it is that art is a very flexible universe that an artist travels through like an astronaut.  Searching and stumbling upon new finds and interpretations of worlds and ideas previously found by our fellow explorers of past and present.  As I navigate this wide free range of expression I find myself uncovering many different types and sizes of obstacles as my journey goes on.  Thus explaining why an artist must not be afraid of being flexible to suit them on their search for higher levels of expression  Such feelings as anger, frustration, confusion, and the urge to build up the power to blast through those feelings have been the elements surrounding me during this moment in my journey.”

Saniqthna Phansavanh

“I spent a very long time in my life denying what I craved.  Maybe, ‘ignoring my purpose’ is a better way to put it.  Either way, I’ve only recently accepted that, for me to truly support my loved ones and myself, creating art should be the foundation for everything in my life.  So, balance between life and art isn’t something that I’m trying to maintain anymore.  Days to nights, seconds to years, let art always be my existence.  These pieces are illustrative points in that declaration.”

Tanner Wilson

“There is a part of my brain that seems to be malfunctioning more and more the older I become.  These particular paintings come from that area of my head.  It is a glowing space that hides itself behind my eyeballs, vibrating and purring.  It gives me images, if you will. Sometimes they consist of colorful horror and other times they are prolonged stares with distant red figures.  At night, I can feel my heart heating up before I go to bed and I worry that I am starting to fall in love with this feeling.  I long to understand more.”
