ASO- SAMSON AND DALILA
CAMILLE SAINT-SAENS
RUN TIME: 2 hours
2014-2015 ASO SEASON
JUNE 6 @ 7:30 PM
It’s the ultimate story of love, seduction, and betrayal — Samson and Delilah. According to the Old Testament, Samson’s great strength embodied in his flowing hair made him invincible, until he met his greatest weakness in a woman named Dalila. She seduced him and reduced him to a mere mortal by cutting off his mighty mane, and he was blinded and imprisoned. Music Director Robert Spano conducts Saint-Saëns’s grand opera in our grand finale of the 2014–15 season, featuring tenor Stuart Skelton as the hero, Samson, and mezzo-soprano Stephanie Blythe as the seductress, Dalila.
